What do people think of our matcha in Japan?

We’ve been shopping our matcha all over the island – Okinawa – and have gotten really positive reviews. This week, we’re taking you to the side of a mountain in Nanjo where we partnered up with Usaato, a unique clothing brand best described as “wearing nature.” Plus, I’ll give a little update on our intent to launch.

Back in May, we got invited by a couple of Usaato brand ambassadors to have a pop-up to share our matcha with the world.

‍

It was awesome! 🌟

‍

We gave away matcha lattes and little cups of usucha, and lots of people ended up buying our tins.

‍

Plus, I got to ask random people about their thoughts on our brand – the tea and packaging.

‍

One, Fumiko, was even a student of the Omotesenke tea school, one of Japan’s three main tea ceremony schools.

‍

She said, “it’s so delicious, mild, and easy to drink.” 👌

This guy was so appreciative that he made a placard for me that says, “Sean’s special, hand-made Kyoto matcha.”

Wataru, a fireman from Urasoe, said, “This matcha makes me feel so easy and free.”

Behind The Launch 🚀

‍

Meanwhile, I’ve set myself the ambitious goal to launch our product in the next 30 days.

‍

We’ve got supplier, design, and customs issues – but we’re gonna launch.

‍

I’ll be telling the story behind it all on Instagram. 📣

‍

The idea is to show people what it’s actually like to bootstrap an online business.

‍

It will be less about the product itself.

‍

Just know that our matcha crushes the majority of what you’ll find on Amazon or in the grocery store.

‍

All our taste-testing is done in public in Japan, a nation of green tea fanatics, and the home of matcha. ⛩️

‍

One in ten people I run into when doing these taste-tests is a student of one of the san-Senke schools mentioned above.

‍

And they generally share honest feedback.

‍

But soon you’ll get a taste too.

‍

Just watch this space and our IG. 😘
